The world’s most populated cities have been revealed. According to the most recent population data of cities, Tokyo was the most populated city in the world in 2023. Tokyo was followed by Delhi, Shanghai, Dhaka and Sao Paulo, respectively.

According to Macrotrends’ “Largest World Cities by Population” report, population data of 150 major cities were analyzed. In the ranking made by population, Tokyo with a population of 37 million 194 thousand ranks first as the most populated city in the world, followed by Delhi from India with a population of 32 million 941 thousand, and Shanghai from China with a population of 29 million 211 thousand.

New York City ranked 11th in the USA with a population of 18 million 937 thousand and Los Angeles ranked 27th with a population of 12 million 534 thousand. The population of other US cities was listed as follows: Houston 6 million 707 thousand, Dallas-Fort Worth 6 million 574,000, Miami 6 million 265 thousand, Atlanta 6 million 106 thousand, Philadelphia 5 million 785 thousand, Washington DC 5 million 490 thousand, Phoenix 4 million 717 thousand.
