Microsoft Reportedly Cancels Xbox Handheld Console Plans Permanently
A few days ago, more specifically last Sunday, the Xbox Games Showcase took place, which was one of the great events that the Summer Game Fest has had. The first Xbox handheld console, ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, was unveiled there. As you can imagine, it’s in collaboration with Asus, however, it looks like the company’s own native console has been canceled for good. At least, according to some fairly reliable sources in the sector.
This time it has been Tom Warren, from The Verge, who reports that the portable Xbox does not seem to be in development. Apparently, the company would already be completely focused on the new Xbox platform, although it would not be the portable one. It seems that there will still be new hardware, but as far as these sources are concerned, the native laptop of the Redmond company will not see the light of day, at least for the time being.
I’ve heard from inside sources that it’s pretty much been canceled, as the company focuses on the new Xbox software platform. I still believe that we’ll see next-gen Xbox hardware from Microsoft, but I’m also firmly believe that we’ll see a number of devices from PC manufacturers like Asus that will also be considered next-gen Xbox consoles.
There were many people who wanted to be able to enjoy their own Xbox laptop, but if it is true that the ROG Xbox Ally allows you to play the games natively, there is practically nothing to worry about. Of course, they have to be games that carry the Xbox Play Anywhere seal, but don’t worry about anything, because if there are any that currently do not have it, it is possible that that could change in the future.
The new ROG Xbox Ally promises to be truly amazing
This console brings with it the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, which balances performance and power consumption to maximize battery life without sacrificing gaming quality. It has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. On the other hand, Xbox Ally X incorporates the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, which allows us to bring new experiences to life, including higher frame rates, sharp images and greater intelligence. Double your storage to have more native games at your fingertips, plus 24GB of high-speed RAM and 1TB of SSD storage.
We don’t know what will happen in the future, but it seems clear that Xbox still plans to offer great news to all the players who are part of its ecosystem. Of course, Game Pass will continue to grow and the company’s most iconic franchises are also predicted to move forward. In fact, next year you will be able to enjoy Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Forza and maybe even Halo.
