Tunc Soyer, the mayor of Izmir, was born in 1959 in Ankara, Turkey. Tunc Soyer is a member of Republican People’s Party, and a social democrat politician.
He moved to Izmir from Ankara. Soyer graduated from Bornova Anadolu High School in Izmir. He received a Bachelor of Law from Ankara University, and two Masters: 1. European Union from Dokuz Eylul University, 2. International Relations from Webster University Geneva.
In 2003 he became an advisor of the mayor of Izmir. In 2009, Soyer was elected the mayor of Izmir district of Seferihisar with 43,80% of the vote. In 2014, Soyer was elected the mayor of Seferihisar for the second time with 52,25% of the vote. He announced as the candidate of Republican People’s Party for Izmir on 28 January 2018. Tunc Soyer ran to become the mayor of Izmir and was elected with 58,10% of the vote.
