Netflix series for learning English

When it comes to practicing English, original versions of English dramas are one of the closest alternatives we have.

An endless debate is inevitable between those who prefer to watch dubbed TV shows and movies and those who like their original versions. If you chose the second alternative, we believe that you will have a thousand and one doubts about which content is more suitable to start with or which series is better for gifted students.

The list of TV shows you’ll see in the following paragraphs has been organized from less difficulty to more difficulty, starting with North American comedies with less accents for beginners and ending with British dramas with Peaky Blinders. We have already given advice in this article, it is the Expert difficulty level that is suitable only for the brave.

A few tips before it reaches you with our recommendations. If you’re already fluent in the language, but want to go a step further, at least in the series that are easier to understand, you can disable the subtitles and check yourself how you are without help.

It’s also a fun game to try to guess where each character’s accent comes from in both the British and North American dramas, as it will give you great tips on understanding a language that is as beautiful as it is complex.

If you want to get started, we recommend starting with light comedies like Modern Family, but if you find it difficult, your best bet is the gorgeous Peaky Blinders.
